The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you” (Psalm 32:8, NLT).
Have you ever cried out for God’s guidance? The above verse tells us that He will guide us along the best pathway for our lives. His is the only guidance we can trust. He has the big picture in mind as well as all the little details that are involved in getting us from Point A to Point B. Isn’t that an amazing thought? He does that with each and every one of us.
If I can’t discern the Lord’s leading, sometimes I feel He is asking me to take a step of faith and to trust Him. In those situations, I look for the peace of Christ when making a decision.
Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace of Christ RULE in your hearts” (NIV).
According to the Blue Letter Bible (Thayer’s Greek Lexicon), the word “rule” in that portion of Scripture means, “to act as an umpire.” It has the connotation of making the deciding rule. I know they didn’t have baseball in the Bible, but when I heard that the word “rule” meant to act as an “umpire,” I immediately asked myself, “What does an umpire do?”
An umpire “calls” the balls AFTER the batter swings. Sometimes He wants us to take a step of faith, get up to home plate and swing first–relying on His peace to be the deciding factor.
“Batter up, Friends!” Go ahead and take a swing!
Look for His peace! It’s there; sometimes it just takes a little digging to find it. But it’s there!
Have you asked God something in prayer recently!? Are you waiting for His guidance?
