Big Bad Census

The Census Bureau showed up at our door this afternoon. She was just starting to ask her questions when I gave her my name, Giff’s name and that we had 6 people living here. And then I said, “That’s all they need to know!” So….if you don’t see me on FB or posting on my blog in a while…..come find us! Just kidding!

Intimidation is the name of the game! Make people think they HAVE to answer something and you’ve got them. People need to know their rights!

I’m now working at ENOA (Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging), and the amount of scams that are aimed at the weak and helpless is disgusting!!! The elderly are main targets for scams of all kinds! There’s meetings and symposiums going on all the time teaching people how to advocate for their elderly loved ones. As one prominent lawyer once told a judge, “Your Honor, that sickitates me! (inside joke)!”

Those who are the most helpless, are those that we are called to guard and to protect! We need the seasoned moms, dads, grandmas and grandpas in our lives. I refuse to succumb to the utilitarian thought that is so prevalent in our society today.

The weak and helpless might not be able to tangibly contribute to the good of our society as a whole; however, their contribution is mostly unseen — except through the eyes of faith. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without having a special needs son in my life. He doesn’t necessarily contribute to the greater good of society (or our family for that matter) but he is priceless just as he is in the eyes of his God!

Thanks for reading! Strive to get the mind of Christ in everything you do!
